What flowers that can be easily grown in Indiana will bloom into late September?

We are having a wedding in my backyard. We are looking for flowers that will still be in bloom at the end of September. We%26#039;ve thought of mums already. We would like to find a vine that would grown on a trellis nicely and still be blooming if possible. Any other suggestions are most welcome as well. Thanks!

What flowers that can be easily grown in Indiana will bloom into late September?
morning glories usually continue to bloom well into fall.
Reply:All the above answers are good. I would like to add the daylilly. Not only blooms into the fall but the flowers are tasty in salads or alone. Tastes like sweet lettuce. They can also tolerate a variety of soils and conditions once established.
Reply:Marigolds are lovely until late fall and can even take a light frost. Sunflowers (Helianthus) bloom until fall. Pansies will bloom again in the fall. I like ornamental kale, especially the purple ones.
Reply:Ivy grows like crazy and it will bloom nicely again in the spring. If you plant some now, by September it should look lush. If you want some color, Impatiens would do well. Impatiens come in a variety of colors such as pink, violet, red, orange and white.
Reply:Asters. Try the Michaelmas Daisy. It%26#039;s named so because it is in bloom around September 29th which is the feast day of St Michael.

Good Luck and Happy Gardening from Cathy and Neal!
Reply:You could also try Dahlias. They will bloom until the first frost. They are easy to plant, and come in hundreds of different colours. I have very little problem with bugs on mine. The price I pay per tuber varies from a $1.00 to a high of $ 15.00. There is a Dahlia society, to find a grower near you.One of biggest growers I know of is in Canby,Oregon. They are called Swan Island Dahlias. I don%26#039;t think they have a web site. Do check out these flowers for a great variety in style of blooms. Have nice wedding day.

Help on wedding flowers!!!?

My wedding is on 10-20-07 and the BM%26#039;s dresses are a burnt orange accented with gold and the tuxes are chocolate brown. I need help on choosing the colors for the flowers! I don%26#039;t think i want and orange color cause it will clash with the dresses. I also want simple hand-tied bouqets. my favorite flowers are gerbera daisies and cala lilies and I don%26#039;t think they mesh well together. as you can tell i am clueless! I am making them myself which isnt a problem I just need imput on the colors!

Help on wedding flowers!!!?
This may be really off the wall to you, but how about a really deep purple flower?
Reply:I%26#039;d go with something like a yellow or a cream or white colored to go with Burnt orange.

Maybe yellow roses and white calla lilies?

IDK sorry, not good with fall weddings. lol
Reply:Yellow! Take a swatch of the BM dress fabric to the flower shop and see how the color looks next to the flowers.
Reply:Even though you are making the bouquets yourself, you could still ask a florist for ideas. Bring pictures/swatches of the dresses and tuxes and ask them for ideas/advice. If you don%26#039;t want to tell them outright that you are making your own bouquets, schedule an appointment with the thought that if they are reasonable, and can meet your budget, you will hire them.
Reply:I am getting married in a few days and I had done TONS of research on flowers. Some of the best visual examples I found were at www.brides.com once I chose my flowers, I found a great website to purchase them from at really reasonable prices. www.farmstogo.com The mini calla%26#039;s are ALWAYS pricey, but this website has the best prices not only on bulk mini-calla%26#039;s but also on any bulk flowers. (I mixed roses and mini callas.) You can pick and choose your colors too! Good luck with everything, I%26#039;m sure it will be beautiful!
Reply:I%26#039;d go to hobby lobby...they have a huge selection of flowers and ton..i mean tons of colors!!!! My suggestion would be either a yellow or even a soft pink color! Good luck and congrats on the wedding!!!
Reply:I would go with the cream color of the calla lillies and maybe a chocolate brown for the gerber daisies or a deep purple. Isn%26#039;t there a pretty auburn color of calla lillies? Maybe you could put some of those in as well.
Reply:sounds a lot like my wedding from 10-21-06. nice date! my BM%26#039;s (I only had two) one was in Burnt orange and the other was in a chocolate dress. each of our Best men, our officiant (who is not my father-in-law), and my dad were all in Brown suits. my dress was ivory and that was the color of the flowers. there were touches of oranges, but only as accents. my flow ere was the calla lilly and the ivory was beautiful against my dress, the other dresses, as well as the men%26#039;s suites. good luck.
Reply:I would use the daises for my bridal bouquet and maybe one to three cala lilies for the brides maids. I think the daises in various colors would be great.
Reply:either cream, sliver/gray or a yellow color. they would all look good. =] Congradulations!
Reply:Since you like calla lilies why dont you talk to a florist about getting some orange canna lilies. They are absolutely beautiful. http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8%26amp;...
Reply:white mums and yellow gerbera daisies, tied with orange/brown ribbons
Reply:I would suggest a simple handtied bouquet of flame miniture callas. They would go great with the burnt orange and chocolate.

Something similar to this... http://http://www.fiftyflowers.com/index.asp?

PageAction=VIEWPROD%26amp;ProdID=702

it would pull out the gold in the dresses and would not clash with chocolate.
Reply:Hi! Well, I totally identify. I was married in October of 2006 and chose some of the same colors. My bridesmaid%26#039;s dresses were a gorgeous chocolate brown. The men wore black pin strip tuxes w/ a champagne colored vest/tie. The champagne looks so rich and beautiful w/ the brown dresses. The flowers were a burnt orange calla lily with other flowers mixed in that were dark yellow tinged in red, and red flowers. My dress was an ivory color w/ champagne detailing. the result was gorgeous.

For your situation, I would use a deep red flower tinged with burnt yellow - there are such flowers!
Reply:You could always use flowers in colours like white, ivory, peach and champagne and instead of mixing gerbera daisies and calla lilies in bouquets you could use gerbera daisies in bridesmaids bouquets and calla lilies in the bridal bouquet and vice versa. As for orange flowers clashing with your dresses it would actually work using orange flowers as a lot of brides choose to match the floral arrangements to their bridesmaids dresses.

Good luck.
Reply:that is my birthday. i would use fall colors like different colors of Brown and orange

I need a flower name that would work well as a middle name for Alianne. Last name Martin...?

All of my sister%26#039;s daughters have middle names that are flowers. She is pregnant with another little girl and her heart is set on naming her Alianne (pronouced Ali-anne). So she needs another flower name that would go well with it. Last name Martin, and Lily and Rose are already taken.

What flowers should we plant for our school?

Hello.

:]

well i am the secretary of my school%26#039;s SCA and we are workin on a project to help beautify our school.

Soooo i was wondering what types of flowers should i suggest we plant.

We need plants that are durable and that dont require much maintenance.

THANKS :]]

What flowers should we plant for our school?
Some basic info would be helpful here. :)

Where do you live? Mostly shade? Or mostly sun?

EDIT: Without knowing the answers to the questions above, I suggest asking a local nursery for low maintenance perennials, preferrable herbs and wildflowers (they tend to be pretty care-free).

Echinachea (purple cone flower) and coreopsis make a striking combination. Try adding some lamb%26#039;s ears for texture and a couple clumps of daylilies for extra spikes of color.
Reply:Sunflowers, They grow big with little effort and the birds love them.

Bouquets with no flowers?

Would it tacky or cheap if I had my bridesmaids hold bouquets made out of different ivy plants and leaves? I%26#039;m not a large fan of most of the flowers that could stand to last a whole wedding. The only ones I really like are orchids and lily-of-the-valley, which aren%26#039;t in my budget.

My fiance and I are going for a very earthy undertone to our wedding. Lots of greens and browns. I myself don%26#039;t plan on having a bouquet, or if I do, it%26#039;ll be ivy as well with some lily-of-the-valley picked from my backyard IF they%26#039;re growing at that time.

Would you be scandalized as a guest? Would you be angry as a bridesmaid? They%26#039;ll still be tied up with ivory and brown ribbons and arranged nicely so it looks like a real bouquet. Flowers just cost a bunch, and I see this as a good way of cutting corners for other things like food and photography.

Bouquets with no flowers?
flower bouquets are not an absolute must

There are a couple of alternative ideas. You could have crystal bouquets, ones made of fall leaves,

or you could use parasols. There is no law that says they have to carry anything.
Reply:No, it won%26#039;t look cheap if you still do things up in a pretty way.

Lily of the valley is SO pretty - and some silk ones look great

Reply:Your idea sounds wonderful! You should do and have exactly what you wants that compliments what you like... why cut the flowers if you love the ivy, twigs and maybe some feathers that all repersent the elements of nature. My husband and I marry people throughout the Northwest, we urge all couples to have what they want... and to make a differance in this wonderful place we call home.
Reply:I love that idea, i can just imagine how pretty that would be! Dont worry what anyone else thinks, its YOUR day!
Reply:Great Idea!

http://www.sheffield.edu/pix/2006a/flora...
Reply:I saw a bouquet the other day made of non prickly cacti and it looked totally amazing. I had to look twice to see that it was made of that.
Reply:I think that if the ivy goes with your theme then it will look nice. If you are already having your colors green and brown then it will be fine. I don%26#039;t think that your guests will think that it is different, not cheap. And if yuor bridesmaid hate it so what. It is only for a day and you are the bride. What ever you decide to should be fine with them.
Reply:Ivy is very beautiful, if you can find a way to %26quot;dress it up,%26quot; I would see no problem with it. Before you axe the flowers, check out http://www.theflowerexchange.com/ They carry all sorts of flowers at amazing prices to suit almost any budget.
Reply:I think it is a great idea especially if you have alot of greenery.
Reply:I don%26#039;t think anyone would be scandalized or angry. It sounds like a good idea. You don%26#039;t have to have bouquets in the first place, but as a former bridesmaid, it is nice to have something to do with your hands in front of an assembly. I thought about ditching bouquets for our wedding as well just for something different, but decided to have them because I know I would be fidgeting!!

Best wishes!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Ivy is great!!! Make sure it%26#039;s going to match the dresses though!!!!!! It will be very unique and different!..................

Oh yeah, Congrats by the way!!!!!!

Should I bring flowers to my date? I'm picking her up before we go to a wedding?

well we have been on a few %26quot;dates%26quot; but nothing really appropriate for flowers.. ie roller balding, coffee, going to a comedy club with friends.. well some one mentioned it but thought i would ask you guys and see what you thought. She invited me to her friends wedding and check out a couple sites before.. is it too much or forward to bring flowers?

Should I bring flowers to my date? I%26#039;m picking her up before we go to a wedding?
forget flower, girl likes daimond
Reply:I%26#039;d say hold off on the flowers, because you%26#039;re going to a wedding. She needed a date to the wedding, she obviously enjoys your company because she%26#039;s taking you to a friend wedding. I%26#039;d suggest flowers when there is some sort of relationship established, girls like flower but she might find it awkward when you%26#039;re just dating. You could look like you%26#039;re getting a little attached.

I have bought some of these edible hibiscus flowers from www.realindulgence.com - any new ideas?

I had bought these after having seen them at a dinner party I went to. I saw them on this website real indulgence, for a tenner including postage. I was so impressed with such a bizarre concept. So the idea is that you place a FLOWER into a champagne flute and then pour your Champagne over then watch as the bubbles push the flower to bloom in your glass. After you%26#039;ve had your drink you then eat the flower. The taste is like glacier cherries almost, very fruity. Well I%26#039;ve tried them with spraking water also - which in fact work the same way. I was wondering if anyone else has been more creative and come up with other ideas in using these Wild Hibiscus Flowers in syrup?

I have bought some of these edible hibiscus flowers from www.realindulgence.com - any new ideas?
You don%26#039;t have to buy flowers to have edible flowers in your food. Did you know Pansies are edible? How about Begonias and Roses? Although I have worked many years in the restaurant business and used the best of the best flowers....You can have the same exotic flare without the cost. Pansies are edible, and come in a variety of colors. use them to accent any meal or dessert. In the %26quot;business%26quot; we used to say: %26quot;When in doubt add more flowers%26quot;. Use them to accent a salad, on the side of your entree, or as a delicate accent to any dessert. Even on a cheese platter of brie, grapes, etc, you can use the flower to accent the beauty of the food. Enjoy yourself! I just wanted to give you some cheap alternatives to buying expensive hybiscus, versus the many flowers you can use, just as lovely, that are also edible. Save money, keep the elegance!
Reply:Grace Paris is right - you can definitely grow these yourself.

We often use them in salads but you can also freeze them in ice cubes or cubes of frozen ice tea or other drinks to add a bit of color later on.

Why won't my hibiscus grow flowers?

My girlfriend has had this hibiscus tree for a few years now, and last year, it had one flower on it. The previous 3 years, and this year, there aren%26#039;t any flowers, much to her dismay. We have it in a 10%26quot; pot in our house (landlord does not allow us to plant it in the yard). The plant is watered daily, sits next to a window, gets plenty of fresh air and is loved well! Are there any tips to get the plant to flower and brighten our day?

Why won%26#039;t my hibiscus grow flowers?
Not enough light is your problem. Hibiscus need full sun most of the day.
Reply:This page should answer many, if not all, of your questions. If your not fertilizing that%26#039;s probably the problem. Check out the page and see if it helps.

I just bought a beautiful hibiscus for my yard.

Good Luck!

Jill Marie
Reply:It%26#039;s probably getting too much water and not enough light. Hibiscus like full sun!
Reply:gotta spray the leaves w/ water .. often light spray..
Reply:First off, please stop watering it daily!!!

Its roots are slowly rotting!

Water it when the soil is dry when you scoop up a small handful and actually feel it.

Instead mist the plant to keep the humidity up.

Water weekly and fertilize during the spring and summer growing season only.

No fertilizer in fall and winter

If you can, you might want to buy a grow light to extend its days a little in the winter month, but it usually isn%26#039;t necessary.

Really, just stop watering quite so much, and good luck
Reply:sorry, but unlees temps are in the 8os in your house everyday it wont flower. it thinks it is winter and is dormat. it is natural not to flower indoors. if you cant plant it outside can you put it in a pot at least. needs plant food too.

Can someone give me a ballpark for wedding flowers?

My fiance and I are crunching numbers for our wedding/reception. I would want a SIMPLE bouquet, not a big flower person for me and my 4 bridesmaids. Plus we would need boutiners (sp?) for then men. If we have at the venue I want (a mansion). They have a TON of floral and candles already set up for our ceremony and reception so we would only need the flowers mentioned above. If we have it at a hotel ballroom (ceremony and reception) I would think we would have to pay for some flower or greenery for the ceremony site and the centerpieces (about 15 tables) as well. Can someone give me a ballpark figure? I%26#039;m trying to convince my fiance that the extra we pay for the mansion we would save in floral. (They will set up ALL our stuff for us at the mansion, wo we would not a florist to come, we could just pick up the flowers at Sam%26#039;s)

Can someone give me a ballpark for wedding flowers?
(We stole ours from Wrigley Field)

If you order from www.bigrose.com you can get 250 roses for $199.00 plus free FedEX delivery! Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful and happy life together.
Reply:are you doing silk or real flowers?

i was just going to say use sams for bulk flowers and diy them

or go to your local grocery stores floral dpt and crunch numbers with the staff.

bring pics of what you want.

use carnations and larger but more inexpensive flowers if possible. less roses more gerbera type thinking.

get a hand tied bouquet of gerberas, tulips and greenery for you, your bms can have the same style but just gerberas and greenery. guys boutinners can be just carnations with a sprig of babys breath and some greenery

if your ceremony site realllly doesn%26#039;t need flowers bcse it%26#039;s naturally pretty- skip it.

centerpieces... depending on what you want can be very inexpensive-

here are a few ideas of ones that shouldn%26#039;t cost much do to- and will keep your flower budget low

http://www.flowerscents1.com/images/CENT...

you can rent vases from a lot of florists... use calla lilies, gerbera or tulips for this look. add greenery if you want

http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/im...

again use tulips and gerberas, maybe a few carnations and lots of inexpensive greenery for this look.

http://www.wildrosehall.com/pictures/Tal...

any in season flowering branch can be used for this. just stick them in the top of the vase

oh don%26#039;t forget to post on craigslist or your local yahoo freecycle group that you are looking for xyz type vase or glassware for your centerpieces. many new brides are happy to unload their wedding left overs for free or cheap.

Wedding flowers?

I am going to have ivory %26amp; burgundy colors in my wedding dress and was wondering what colors I should have the flowers. Of course Ivory or burgundy would be the natural choice but I want some different colors as well. Thanks for any suggestions

Wedding flowers?
Black magic roses are the most gorgeous wedding flower Ive ever seen--and with burgandy...OMG.*sigh* Would be gorgeous.

Calla lillies in rich colors would be beauteous too:)
Reply:Depending on the time of year your getting married might influence your other colors. You can always add greenery in there ( those dark hunter green leather leaf things, or the normal %26#039;wedding bouquet%26#039; fern type stuff) If its a spring/summery wedding there are those really pale green flowers in a variety of types ( roses, alstromeria, and you can have anything tinted that color) If its a fall/winter wedding, you could add some dark gold roses, mums, etc, even maybe add some of those tiny pinecone things in there. Try putting different colors of silk flowers together at a craft store to see what you like, you could even take some samples to the florist so they could see an example of what your thinking of. You%26#039;ll find though with real flowers, that almost anything goes together (you know, flowers in a garden never clash, no matter what colors they are) If you want something really simple and striking , those dark burgundy calla lillies are gorgeous all by themselves!
Reply:Yellows would go down well, as would violets, dont choose just the one type of flower, give yourself a variety of colours and species.
Reply:Golds or peaches would work in well, and lots of greenery.

What colors of flowers do you suggest i use in my bouquets?

I am having the color wild orchid(which is a purplish/pink color) for my primary color which will be the color of my bridesmaids dresses! but i am unsure on what color of flowers to use in the bouqet~the type of flower isn%26#039;t that important right at this point, but if you have suggestions on that i would gladly appreciate that as well!

Thanks in advance to all who answer!!

What colors of flowers do you suggest i use in my bouquets?
wild orchid from david%26#039;s bridal by chance? if so i worked there and know exactly what shade. i always told my brides using that color to go with pastel pink/purple flowers. it really makes the wild orchid pop but doesnt overwhelm the eye.
Reply:i would try white. it%26#039;ll make the orchids stand out! plus there are about a gazillion different kinds of flowers that come in white.
Reply:i guess white flowers......white simblolize of purity...
Reply:I had 12 off white roses and they were tinted with a beautiful muted pink. They were gorgeous. Wrapped in sheer pink and off white long ribbons. You can%26#039;t miss with roses.
Reply:I think lavender, light pink and white would be beautiful
Reply:scroll down about 2/3rds of the way on this site, the girls are wearing deep purple dresses and have very pretty bouquets

http://www.budget-bride.com/questions.ht...

or if you want something different how about a deep orange calla lily bouquet
Reply:Any way you could go with a dark royal purple mixed with white?? The ribbons could be a mixture of the white, dark purple %26amp; wild orchid. I think that would be lovely - especially with some delicate greenery attached to it. Good luck!!! %26amp; congratulations!!
Reply:You should look up a color wheel. It has every color you could imagine and directly across from it, are the colors that coordinate with it. For example, yellows and golds go with purple, so I would suggest maybe a pale yellow flower.
Reply:if you want everything to be on that same color sceme go with purple and pink flowers (ie chocolate roses, stargazer lillies, several shades of pink gerbera daisies and tulips...

If you are looking for coordinating colors, go with whites, greens and pale yellows (hydrangea, daisies, etc). The sky (or your bank account) is the limit!

Reply:hi i would go with a soft lilac colour or off white ...
Reply:I have been to a lot of weddings this year. I loved it when one bride choose dark pink lily type flowers. I also love roses, but I think they are to common. I would go with a pinkish color (not hot pink) and a unique bouquet.
Reply:if your dresses will be purplish (dark) go with a lighter color flower to stand out like pink, white or yellow) and opposite if the dresses will be light go with a darker flower w/ purplish or green tones. lilys are always good they come in many dark and light colors and gerber mums.
Reply:I would choose a color close to the purplish pink for the bouquet, mixed with either white or off white flowers.

Sending flowers as a way of saying "I'm Sorry" ...?

Which roses (colour and type) as well as the number of flowers mean %26quot;I%26#039;m Sorry%26quot; to a girl you care about?

Climbers & flowers?

I have a small square shaped patio area at the back of my property. It is completely paved with the exception of a strip of earth approx 40cm deep in front of the back fence (which is about 3.5m long). Said back fence is a pole style fence allowing people to see into my garden and house from the outside.

Ideally I’d like to cover the fence with climbers but at the same time I’d also quite like to have colourful flowers.

Can anyone offer any advice? I’m a complete gardening beginner.

Having a look on a few websites I really like the look of Maypop’s and I understand Clematis are also really good climbers. Can I introduce smaller non-climbing plants into such a small area or would they not grow well together?

The garden is warm and gets a good amount of sun from around 2pm onwards but is shady during the mornings.

Thanks

Laura

Climbers %26amp; flowers?
I%26#039;d look for a passion flower! They have large, shiny, evergreen leaves, beautfiully complex flowers in summer and orange fruits in autumn. They grow very quickly and doesn%26#039;t mind if it%26#039;s in sun or shade. I%26#039;ve got one on a trellis and it%26#039;s doubled in size in about 6 months!
Reply:A fragrant climbing rose with complimentary clematis growing through it would be quite good in this position
Reply:Clematis is a good choice, but use one that flowers in spring/summer, then plant another that flowers in late summer/fall(sweet autumn).
Reply:Akebia quinata, it is semi evergreen and has small reddish/purple flowers with a perfume said to smell of chocolate hence the common name Chocolate Vine.
Reply:I had a beautiful honeysuckle climber in my back gardern-and I say %26#039;had%26#039; with a big sigh!

I have a medium to large garden and the climber took one side of the fence- the colour is a mixture of purples and pinks just all over -truly amazing, and the fragrance in the summertime- wow! I used to leave my patio door open it really used to make my whole house smell wonderful especially in the long summer evenings the smell was so aromatic.

Me being me didnt realise that it was dying, last year it flowered about half of what it used to- this year, dead.

When I realised I cried for it, I really did.

Does anybody know is there a way to revive dead plants?

Please let me know before I cut it off-Im depressed.

Go for the honeysuckle-you wont regret it!
Reply:Ivy is fast growing but look very boaring , get a clematis but get one that has the name starting with montana , so montana elizabeth , montana ruban these are the fast growing ones and will soon have what you wont covered up.
Reply:My clematis this year-- on the north side of my home is doing very, very well. I used a 17-17-17 fertilizer for the first time on my lawn, and have made sure I kept the moisture sufficient.

I agree with Sweet Autumn clematis-- it has the most wonderful fragrance! But it only blooms in the fall here.

No one mentioned trumpet vine. It is a pest here, zone 7-- but it is one strong plant. As expected-- hummingbirds love trumpet vine. It also may need annual trimming.

A annual that is pretty is hyacinth bean vine. It is prolific, has purple and white blooms that look like peas, has pretty purple seed pods that overwinter in zone 7.

other flowers? With support from you-- no problem. Remember all that growing stuff is drawing nourishment from that small space-- and where ever the roots can go.

Don%26#039;t forget pots for color! Hanging or sitting on the ground.

good luck
Reply:I would go for evergreen so its there all year round.

Ivy

Clematis Armanii

\
Reply:Wisteria would be wonderful, but it is lethal (beware if you have children). Trumpet vine or any type of Jasmine would be great too...

Adding non-climbers could accent the climbers...even if you put them in some decorative pots. Another idea would be statues or big stones...they are decorative as well...
Reply:Clematis is good but can be picky - some people have no trouble with it - mine are just pathetic.

Cotoneaster is a hardy plant that seems to take ages to establish but once it has it will just keep going - I have to trim it all the time or it would cover the windows.

Wisteria is lovely but I think that%26#039;s quite slow growing as well.

But you could attach pots partway up the screen and train things from there while you are waiting for the others to grow - just an idea - I used on my porch trellis.
Reply:If you are looking for a perennial vine, then it%26#039;s hard to beat Clematis. My personal favorite climber is Sweet Autumn Clematis (Clematis maximowiciana or C. terniflora); a fast growing twining climber that can reach 20ft or more. While normal Clematis blooms early, Sweet Autumn Clematis will bloom late August until freeze (we%26#039;re in Zone 5 here). Mine is completely covered with fragrant, white, silver-dollar sized blooms every year. It prefers to keep it%26#039;s feet in the shade, so I planted a few Rudbeckia in front of it.

To add color, I usually plant several annual vines nearby; usually Morning Glories (Ipomoea) or Black-Eyed Susan Vine (Thurnbergia)

Any fast-growing flowers in FL?

Right now it is fall, and I%26#039;m looking for a flower seed that grows quickly at this time. I%26#039;m also hoping that they are convenient to purchase at like Home Depot or some sort.

Do amaryllis flowers or sunflowers grow fast and well here?

Thanks

Any fast-growing flowers in FL?
Depending on whether or not you get frost in your area, you probably should wait to plant your sunflowers. They do best if you start them in pots in February and have them in the ground by late March.

Here are some seeds that do well in most parts of Florida and grow fairly quickly. They also attract butterflies.

Salvias

Calendulas

Petunias

Gazania

Cockscomb

Impatiens

Ageratum

Snapdragon
Reply:depending of your planting number area.. I live in Central Florida - Planting region number 9 before was in region 10B

Amaryllis bulbs are very easy to grow and will multiply easily if they are planted in a shady area and well drained soil.

I%26#039;m not sure about the Sunflowers but it should be no problem if you plant in the fall by spring they should be in full bloom.

Personally, I prefer the Hibiscus which blooms every day in full sun and grow real fast in my area.

Wedding flowers to go with robins-egg blue and dark chocolate?

I am currently planning my wedding (June 2008) and I am trying to figure out what type of flowers to decorate with as well as hold (both me and my bridesmaids) that would look nice with robin%26#039;s egg blue (with dark chocolate accents). Lilies are my favorite but finding blue lilies might be a problem, any ideas?

Wedding flowers to go with robins-egg blue and dark chocolate?
I did robin blue in my wedding for June as well. I did light blue, dark blue, soft pink and white flowers. If you love lilys then make sure your bouquet has them in there. You can do stargazer lilys for your girls bouquets. They look like this

http://www.proflowers.com/stargazer-lili...

However, I would talk to your florist and see what she thinks you should do. Any color will go great with blues and browns, but while you are in the shop take a look at some of the other flowers in there. You may see something that really catches your eye and you want to have for flowers. Remember that your flowers do not have to match the dresses, they need to accent them and bring out the color of the dresses.
Reply:I%26#039;m doing similar colors.

I love hydrangeas. They are beautiful, easy to find and simple, yet elegant.

I%26#039;m thinking of doing something like this for my bouquet:

http://www.posiesandpoppies.com/images/l...
Reply:I would go with a full variety of colours and assorted flowers - a mix of roses, carns, lilies, alstromeria, etc. - in dk pink, light pink, lilac, yellow, orange, peach, and greenery - tied up with blue ribbons.
Reply:white lillies....white flowers in general, add accents of color with bows and maybe colored willow twigs...
Reply:yeah those are hard colors. if white bores you, you can choose a flower color that coordinates and have everything except your flowers be blue and brown.

i feel burnt orange, or bright pink.
Reply:Talk to a florist about your ideas. I think that hydrageas would like nice, but a lot of your flower choices depend on where you%26#039;re getting married. If you%26#039;ll be oustide in June, hydrangeas might be too delicate. A florist will be able to tell you what%26#039;s available in your area and your season. And if you%26#039;re looking for a particular color, they may be able to spray-paint the flowers you%26#039;ve chosen to match your colors. (It%26#039;s a special florist spray-paint, you won%26#039;t be able to tell!)

Even if you decide to do your own flowers or hire a cheaper florist, the consultation is usually free, and it%26#039;s a great way to get some ideas.
Reply:I love the look of hydrengeas, and a bouquet of them and decorations would look great.

Here´s an example, but a florist can get these in robin´s egg blue...

www.flowersandsuch.co.uk
Reply:The problem with blue or purple flowers is that they might wind up clashing with your blue color. The best color is ivory or cream. These would go very nicely with both the blue and brown and would add a little crisp, clean, brightness to the look.

What type of flowers should I give her?

I%26#039;ve been dating a really awesome girl for a little less than 2 weeks and things have been great. I want to get her some flowers for her apartment, but I admittedly don%26#039;t know squat about flowers other than roses. Red roses might be a little much considering the short length of time we%26#039;ve known each other, although I know we%26#039;re both into each other pretty seriously. What else can I get that isn%26#039;t hideous and would spruce up her apartment as well?

She has a cat if that matters at all.

What type of flowers should I give her?
Go into the florist...don%26#039;t do the www.proflowers.com yet. When you go in tell the florist to actually make you an arrangement of flowers for your occasion. Tell her what they are for and who they are for. They will make you a lovely bunch of flowers for her and within a price-range that you specify.

That%26#039;s what they%26#039;re there for. Take advantage of their skills....I know I have...and have never been let down.

Edible flowers for container gardening in shade?

I%26#039;m starting a container garden with a north facing patio (cringe). I gave up a southern view for a a skyline what can i say. So anyway i%26#039;m a cook, sometimes profesionaly, and wanted to try to grow and then incorperate some edible flowers into my cooking. Does anyone know any that grow well on little sunlight? I%26#039;m going to end up putting it in a closet with a sun lamp in the winter by defualt but would like something that didnt become anemic you know?

Edible flowers for container gardening in shade?
Violets, violas, pansies and nastursiumns. Here is a site that lists many more, plus ways to use them. However, the ones I listed (other than traditional herbs, rosemary, thyme, etc.) are the ones most suited for shade container gardening.

http://whatscookingamerica.net/EdibleFlo...
Reply:Lovely flowers which can stay outdoors over winter are daylilies and hosta.

Squash blossom--zucchini for orange flowers. For yellow blooms, try the cucumber! And for white, try gourds--the apple gourd is my favorite. Report It

Reply:Sunflower petals! Many colors and sizes, some will grow in low light--they taste nutty, like the seeds :) Report It

Reply:Try planting Rosemary, parsley, sage, thyme,or even colts-foot for those winter colds and flu%26#039;s.
Reply:Nasturtiums can tolerate low light in my experience and are tasty and peppery.

Tomatoes - lots of flowers but no fruit. Why?

I bought three tomato plants (%26quot;Tumbler%26quot;)in May from a garden centre. They have grown well and are all covered in flowers. But there is no sign of any tomatoes, and now the flowers are starting to die and fall.

What has happened? Is there anything I can do?

Tomatoes - lots of flowers but no fruit. Why?
Check where the flower used to be. If you see a tiny green ball, then you%26#039;ll have tomatoes soon. If there isn%26#039;t anything there, then it probably is a problem with over or under watering. Or stress from being moved or transplanted.

The flowers have to be pollinated with an insect, usually bees. I%26#039;m assuming if they are outdoors then there%26#039;s no problem with that.
Reply:You must feed them with Tomatorite liquid fertiliser once a week. Start now and you may be just in time to save the plants. They are very early though, are they in a greenhouse?

You wouldn%26#039;t normally expect fruits til July/August time.

They also need lots sun and heat, and we don%26#039;t get an awful lot of that in th U.K.
Reply:The tomatoes will start to grow now that the flowers have started to fall off and you will hopefully have more that you know what to do with
Reply:Could it be that you are over or under watering them and killing them? Call the garden center and ask what you should do. They can help.
Reply:I have read somewhere that you should shake your tomato plants when they are blooming. This helps to pollinate the flowers and helps set more fruit.

TOM.
Reply:Make sure you gently %26#039;flick%26#039; or shake the flowers when they open to help pollination.
Reply:Slimjim123 is right. Try using a cotton bud (loosen the tip) and lightly brush the inside of all the flowers. That way we can be sure pollination will take place. ( Of course, we are doing the job of the bees.)
Reply:That is what happens - now the tomato%26#039;s will grow from where the flowers have fallen off, your lucky mine have not even got flowers yet!
Reply:are you sure they are tomato plants?that guy in the garden center is ok selling u them but wont or cant give u any advice, i think he has had u over, to be honest with you i didnt know tomato plants grew flowers, just leaves!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:The flower petals fall off as the fruit develops. If no fruit develop than there could be a number of problems poor pollination low water levels being two. Lightly tap the plants when they are in flower this helps with pollination you can also pollinate using a small artist%26#039;s brush or rabbit foot. Water level, tomatoes are gross feeders and need a lot of water and fertiliser to complete the cycle of seed, plant ,fruit ,seed
Reply:the flowers petals fall off and this turns into a tiny fruit which grows into the tomato you would expect to see, loads of flowers = loads of tomatoes
Reply:that%26#039;s ok. the flowers will wither and die and you%26#039;ll get loads of little fruit underneith them. your plants sound like you%26#039;ll get a really good crop....nice one !!!
Reply:dont worry that what happens ur tomatoes will start to grow now its normal just feed them with tomatoe feed and they will do well and dont forget to water as they like it

Reply:I don%26#039;t have any links for you, but I was in a wedding last October and we had similar bouquets with lots of bright pinks in them. Our dresses were a Tiffany%26#039;s blue--strapless and tea-length. Originally, we thought the combo of bright pink and blue was horrible, but it actually turned out to be very pretty.
Reply:A shade of green like sage.
Reply:I don%26#039;t now how reserved your tastes are, but if you are one to try different things lime green dresses would be awesome behind those hot pink flowers.
Reply:I found these links on other questions, hope they are helpful for you.

About the color: I think you could go for a hot pink / fucsia and they look pretty nice (I was a bridesmaid and wore a dress of that shade, and it looked great), but I don%26#039;t think that the maids dresses should match the flowers anyway..... a friend of mine did that and she made her bridesmaids wear a HORRIBLE orange%26amp;beige dress -- for which reason I declined to be her maid.

You also have to take into account where the wedding will take place (ballroom? garden?), time of the day, season, etc. And last but not least, everyone has a different skin tone and the color must be flattering to everyone, which is too difficult..... black is the only color I can think of that can achieve this. Good luck in choosing the right color....

Reply:I think these brights and whites would look good against basic black - and elegant. I did all black dresses with similar colors and it was beautiful!

Should i send flowers to her work?! Or what should i do next?!?

I recently had a date with a girl about 2 weeks ago with a girl i worked with who i didn%26#039;t really know but still asked out because she seemed interesting! And we had a nice time and she even told me herself and i asked her for a second date to which she replied maybe!?

So afew weeks pass by and theres afew texts between me and her and well i phoned to see how she was and after the phone call i asked her out again by text to which i%26#039;ve had no reply!! I know shes shy and pretty unsure about me! she was even shocked when i asked her out the 1st time and thought it was a practical joke!!

So well its been over a week since i texted her and i remembered in coversation where she worked and im thinking of sending her flowers!! But i guess i%26#039;d like your opinions whether i should send her flowers or try something else.. oh yea and the only way i can contact her is by calling or texting!!

Thanks!!

Should i send flowers to her work?! Or what should i do next?!?
Call and talk to her. If you decide to send flowers then go with something subtle and not a dozen roses. Don%26#039;t make yourself look needy and desperate! There%26#039;s a website that you can get a discount on flowers and chocolates http://www.Online-Florists.Reviews-n-Rat... You%26#039;ll be sure to find the right arrangement there. Good luck!
Reply:Flowers are too stalkerish, especially since you remembered where she worked. She would be horrified rather than happy. In fact I think you should not contact her at all, as her not replying to your text was a hint to leave her alone.

Flowers???

I am getting married and it is going to be a small wedding I really want dasiy flowers but I don%26#039;t want plan white or red any suggestions and please post pictures as well.

Flowers???
Check at sams club.com. You can buy gerbera daisies in lots of colors and have them shipped to you at a very low cost. This is what I am doing for my wedding, the cost is many many times lower than using a florist. Anyway, with these big happy sunshiney daisies, they look best in bunches of one or three without a lot of florists%26#039; greenery mucking things up.
Reply:How about Gerber Daisey%26#039;s they come in a bunch of colors and they are in season.

LADIES - I need advice on flowers?

Here%26#039;s the situation:

I know this girl. We have gone out for %26quot;friends%26quot; coffee a couple times. We get along well but we aren%26#039;t %26quot;dating%26quot; yet. I%26#039;m pretty sure she likes me and its more than obvious I like her.

She%26#039;s going in for surgery on Friday (nothing life threatening) and will be out of commission for about a week. At the same time, I%26#039;m going out of town so its not like I%26#039;ll be around during all this.

I want to send her %26quot;get well%26quot; flowers. They should be the type that will convey the basic message but also not cross too many lines...but I also plan on attaching a note mentioning our going out on a real date after she recovers and I get back.

Here are my questions:

1.) What kind of flowers say this best?

2.) When should I send them? Before the surgery or after?

3.) Does including the offer of the date with the flowers seem right or should I call/e-mail while she%26#039;s recovering?

Thanks in advance

LADIES - I need advice on flowers?
1) Orchids. Roses are common these days. Everybody gets roses. They smell beautiful, they look beautiful, but orchids are rare and elegant, like she is.

2) Send them after the surgery. She%26#039;ll have too much on her mind before the surgery and it%26#039;d be nice to look at them while she%26#039;s recovering.

3) No. Sending her flowers is more than enough in recovery. She%26#039;s going to be worried about how the surgery went, how soon she%26#039;ll be able to go home and see her family or whatever. Just sending the flowers will send the message that you have her best concerns at heart (not that you%26#039;re trying to get into her pants via pity.)

4) Don%26#039;t call her while she%26#039;s recovering to ask her out. Just ask her if she liked the flowers, how she%26#039;s feeling, when she thinks she%26#039;ll go home, what the doctors think, etc. when you get back is the best time to ask her out again. When she looks well enough that she might feel up to it.

Best of luck! You%26#039;re really sweet.
Reply:Definitely roses. Not red--they mean love and not yellow--they mean friendship and you want more. Pink is perfect although I%26#039;m not sure of the meaning of giving pink roses. You should give them to her before surgery because she will be nervous and they will make her smile and you will score points because she will be emotional and think that it is sweet that you were thinking of her.

Do not ask her on a date she has enough on her mind. Wait until you return and you visit her while she is recuperating. You can tell her that you were thinking about her and that you are so glad she is doing well... And then you ask her on a date.
Reply:ok you should probably send white lilys they r cheerful yet romantic.I for one would love that.Roses r to much love..lol After the surgery u dont want her to stress out before the surgery.I think its a good idea to send it with the flowers or after she gets out of the hospitol!!!
Reply:You should send a mixed bouquet of flowers, not too many carnations, but a mixture of exotic type flowers. Whatever you do don%26#039;t send a cheap bouquet, it%26#039;s better not to send it at all if it looks cheap. Now there is nothing wrong with a cheap bouquet of flowers, but those should be handed personally to the woman. Send them the day of the surgery and call her several days later. When you talk to her tell her you didn%26#039;t want to call too soon because you wanted to give her a chance to rest. As far as the note I think it is nice to offer a date with the flowers, I think she will really like that.
Reply:1) Send her the kind of Flowers she likes

2) Send them BEFORE she goes into surgery, so she can be thinking about you during it.

3) I think including that little message in the flowers in sooo cute and romantic. I think she%26#039;ll love it. I would!
Reply:I agree with getrd2go.
Reply:I would send the flowers before the surgedry. You stay pretty groggy and out of it for a few days aftedr plus thed pain meds can make a person forgetful. What ever her favorite flowers are will say it best and you can put the invite on the card but you should also call and ask. The card and email are too impersonal.
Reply:I would take her Daisy%26#039;s after the surgery...and wait until she is home to ask her on a date.

You could bring her dinner the night she returns from the hospital and tell her when she%26#039;s feeling better you would like to take her out for a %26quot;REAL DINNER%26quot;.

This way...you are keeping things friendly, and showing your interest in her without coming on too strong.

Good Luck.
Reply:1. Pink carnations or whichever color or lilies.

2. Deffinitily send them after the surgery so when she wakes up and feels groggy shell at least feel happy that she has flowers from you.

3. You could offer a date on the card when you give her the flowers but its also great to call. I dont know so much about emailing, I know I wouldnt like to be asked out on a date through a computer.

Take Care, and best wishes.
Reply:1.) I would send her roses or ask what her fav. are then get those or ask you%26#039;re florist.

2.) I would send sum before and after so she will know that sumone is thinking of her through all this and she can think of you and all that.

3.) I think you should include the date thing on the before flowers.

And last of all I think you are sooo sweet doing this and all.
Reply:1. explain your situation to the florist, they have heard it all and know the right flowers.

2. send them before the surgery. that way she knows that someone is thinking about her and will have something nice to think about before the operation.

3. ask her out later. the flowers should only be about the surgery. call her to ask her once she%26#039;s out of the hospital.
Reply:Get a bouquet of mix flowers. I would avoid roses just because they send a certain message. I would send them before the surgery so she knows you are thinking about her. I personally would include the offer of the date with the flowers. Gives her something to look forward to.
Reply:Go with a get well mix, send them before she feels cruddy, and let her know you care and would like to see her when she gets better, also, ask if there is anything you can do for her while she is recovering.

2.BEFORE

3. IT%26#039;S THE RIGHT THING, JUST WRITE DOWN WHEN U COME OUT OF UR SURGERY I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE U OUT TO DINNER. HOPE U GET BETTER AND SOME MORE STUFF.
Reply:The best thing you could do is try to find out what two types of flowers she likes most, ask a friend of hers. Once you find out send them to her. Send her one of her favorite flowers to her before surgery and the other kind after. Dont ask her out on a date with the flowers, wait till she has recovered a little bit then ask her for a romantic outing.Hope it all goes good for you. Good luck!
Reply:Here are my answers:

1.) Wild flowers ( or a bunch of different types mixed together)

2.) The day of, that way they will be there when she wakes up.

3.) I would wait and ask her when she is feeling better. Call her a couple times after she%26#039;s home and when you get back ask her!

GOOD LUCK!
Reply:A nice bouquet of mixed spring flowers or bouquet of different color carnations would be nice. Make it as big as you can afford t pay. Send them before the surgery and on the note say something to the effect that everything will be fine (even if its not life threatening, i bet she is still scared of going under the knife). Do not ask her out then. Call her after her surgery -same day or the day after, and ask her how she feels. Then snick into the conversation that since she was so brave during the surgery you would like to reward her and take her out to dinner.
Reply:I say send daises after the surgery. if she is going to be staying in the hospital for a few days have them sent to her room. I think it would be a special little touch to put your date proposal on the card of the flowers. she will love it!
Reply:ok red roses mean love yellow roses mean loyalty and white roses mean friendship......... send them after tha surgery and ofer a date for when she is better maybe as like a getting out thing good luck
Reply:1.) My favorite flowers are daisies but not all girls like them so I would suggest a bouquet of a mixed arrangement with carnations, daisies and lillies. Roses can be in the mix, but make sure there are no red. Possibly Pink/Purple and white.

2.) Send them after the surgery

3.) I think that the date offer with the flowers would be a good idea. It should put a bigger smile on her face. Besides she could always save one of the flowers with the card as a reminder of how you first asked her out on a real date.

What should I do about my wedding flowers?

My fiancee%26#039;s mom offered to do my flowers. She thought it would be a good project for her since she had a brain anyeurism last summer and can no longer work. I got together pics and showed her what I wanted and she said no problem. The thing is, she%26#039;s finished my bmaids flowers (supposed to be bouquest of calla lilies, very simple looking) and they are calla lily pins with a rose at the bottom. Now, we talked about that for the guys but I guess she got confused (she%26#039;s very forgettful since her anyeurism, to the point of calling 3 or 4 times in a row to ask the same question). Well now my sisters who are my bmaids are complaining about having to pin something to their dresses since they%26#039;re paying for the dresses. I%26#039;m sad that the flowers won%26#039;t be the way I%26#039;d hoped, but have pretty much gotten over that. I am just sick of hearing my sisters gripe about how I should tell my fmil to redo the flowers and I don%26#039;t want to hurt my fmil%26#039;s feelings over something this silly. What should I do?

What should I do about my wedding flowers?
I stopped at two points here.......brain anuerysm and whiney sisters.

Thank the Lord you have your FMIL still. I am a nurse, and have seen many people who simply do not survive a brain anuersym. You and your future husband are so blessed that she is still with you for this wonderful occassion. How wonderful of you to let her be a part by doing something so important - she must feel like a queen.

Now for the whiney babies - sorry - your sisters - tell them to get over themselves. Corsages have been pinned to dresses since the Victorian era! They will not ruin their dresses for pete sake. Tell them to put on their big girl panties, shut their yaps, and smile!
Reply:It%26#039;s your wedding %26amp; if you%26#039;re OK with the flowers, they should be fine. Pins will no hurt their dresses at all. Just explain to your sisters that while they aren%26#039;t what you asked for, you%26#039;re happy your FMIL was involved %26amp; did a good job with what she did.
Reply:You could ask your fmil to make bouquets, too. (I suggest you write down instructions, since she is so forgetful.) That way the girls can wear the pins, and carry the bouquets, and during the reception they will still have on the pins. Or carry the bouquets during the wedding, and use the pins for the reception. If you really don%26#039;t want to change anything now, because it might hurt her feelings, then don%26#039;t. These are just suggestions to make your sisters, bridesmaids, and your fmil all happy.
Reply:Tell your sisters to stop whining, and think of someone else other than themselves. Your mother in law is trying to do something for you. She is not messing it up on purpose. They need to grow up. Someday, she will no longer be here and you will look back at your wedding pictures and remember how she wanted to do your flowers and did them for you. It will be a special memory, don%26#039;t let your sisters ruin that for you.
Reply:This is what I would do. I would tell them to get over it. I would say that she is doing the best that she can and that this is YOUR wedding. If they are going to ****** and complain then they could go ***** off or accept it. I would sit my sisters down and say the following:%26quot;Look, you know my fiance%26#039;s mother had an aneurysm last year and she made it through. She is trying to be gracious and do something nice to contribute to her son%26#039;s wedding. This is MY wedding. not yours. YOU ARE GOING TO PISS ME OFF if you are going to complain. Let me know, NOW, that because of the flowers, you do not want to be in this wedding. Because, if you do not because of that, maybe it is better off. And when ANYONE asks me about why, I would be happy to tell them that YOU ACTED LIKE A ******** CRYBABY BECAUSE YOU DID NOT WANT TO PIN SOME STUPID, ******** FLOWERS ON YOUR DAMN DRESS!!! And, thus, that is why you are not a bridesmaid. SO SUCK IT UP, OR, GET OUT! I WOULD BE HAPPY TO REPAY HALF OF THE DRESS FOR YOU! And, remember, each and everyday after this event is each and everyday that not only me, but, other people will realize what a ******** complainer that you are.%26quot;

This may sound cruel, but, guess what. This is your wedding and some crybaby tart should not ruin it for you.
Reply:What about putting all you discussed on cards? 5 X 7 cards. Typed out nice and laminate them. This way there is no confussion and in case she forgets.. she can keep checking the card...

Its a shame she has this problem.. but it doesn%26#039;t have to be your problem.

Can you sit her down and explain you are not very happy with them?

Try it see what happens.

GOOD LUCK %26amp; CONGRATS
Reply:u just have to let her know that what she has done are the groomsman, or that there not right u can do this nice by apologising for not being happy with what she has done, but at the end of the day its your day an it should be done the way you want it as it probably isn%26#039;t going to happen again or you could say that your sorry you didn%26#039;t explain it properly and say I%26#039;m just so confused at the moment thank god i have you to help me make her feel appreciated. hoping this helps. Im getting married 6/10/07 so i sought of have an idea what your going through.
Reply:I would let your FMIL that you love the flowers she made and that you think it would be a great idea if she can make some additional bouquets (with specific instructions and pictures) so they can were the corsages for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. This way, the corsages will still be used and the girls won%26#039;t have to wear pins in their dresses. Or you if she hasn%26#039;t already made corsages for the mothers, hostesses, etc. let her know you would like to use the flowers she made for them and hope she is able to make additional bouquets (again with specific instructions and pictures) for the bridesmaids to %26quot;hand carry%26quot; when they walk down the aisle. If there is not enough time to make additional bouquets, just let the girls know that your FMIL worked hard to make these flowers and you%26#039;d appreciate if they would just wear them and stop complaining about it out of respect for all the hard work she made.
Reply:tell yoru sisters to get over it and deal.

Should I give this girl flowers?

Well im just wondering if I should give this girl I know and like flowers. The thing is though the girl I like might have a boyfriend so Im not queit sure but I dont think she does. If she does have a boyfriend and I give her flowers without knowing she has a boyfriend do you think she might think im wierd for just giving her flowers.

Should I give this girl flowers?
A woman or girl always likes to receive flowers from an admirer and it is always a nice gift no matter what time of year...

If you don%26#039;t know her well enough, just get a simple inexpensive arrangement of Valentine flowers like carnations in a coffee mug or in a basket...

A very simple bunch of reds and pinks and whites will be great and thoughtful and a nice gesture...
Reply:i think you should ask you dont want to get mad at or embressed so find out
Reply:Go ahead and give her flowers---as long as they aren%26#039;t roses. It is perfectly okay.
Reply:Give the girl flowers! At the very least, you%26#039;ll make her smile and if you really do like her, who cares if she has a boyfriend, you will have brought a smile to her face and what more do you need? (Not to mention that she%26#039;ll be thinking of you for a long time after either way, we LOVE flowers!)
Reply:Give her like a $50 gift card.
Reply:That all depends on what your relationship is with her. If you don%26#039;t know her too well, I wouldn%26#039;t do it. Just like guys, we get turned off by someone who comes off as too pushy or desperate. So I would say the only time it%26#039;s appropriate to send flowers is when you%26#039;re sure that the feelings mutual. Save the money and go buy yourself something instead. Flowers are expensive! If you have a clearer idea in the future, you can always send flowers then.
Reply:forget the flowers give her a dirty sanchez
Reply:yes as well as some chocolates to so yeah don%26#039;t screw it up and dont go embasrassing urself.
Reply:Talk to her friends and see whats up or have one of your friends talk to her but you have to trust them so they don%26#039;t mess it up lol

Another thing that could help is use facebook or myspace or a blog web site to see if she has a BF or not
Reply:If you%26#039;re unsure just give her the flowers.

If she has a boyfriend, tell him that you did it only as a friend.

if she doesn%26#039;t, you just earned major brownie points

Don%26#039;t just sit there and let this chance pass you by.

Come years from now, you%26#039;ll wonder what would happen if you did. The worse that could happen is you learn she has a boyfriend. The best? she doesn%26#039;t.

Stop being so cautious about little things.

Life is not always full of second chances. So take the first opportunity to do what will make you happy
Reply:If she has a boyfriend, leave her alone for now. She may think you%26#039;re creepy at the very least if you decide to pursue her, even though she has a boyfriend.
Reply:just give her the flower...if she has a boyfriend, she will appreiate you as a bestfriend..
Reply:maybe just give a little card or something? and leave it as anon. i think flowers might be a bit too much? i don%26#039;t know...
Reply:ask her friends if she is single, have a bf or whatever.
Reply:Give her a flower not flowers. Then it is a good gesture or compliment. Otherwise might get you both into trouble if she has a boyfriend. No ones stupid for giving a flower to a girl he likes. If she thinks so then............ Maybe she has to many flowers for her own good with an ego to match.
Reply:Go for it. If she%26#039;s not a b*tch she%26#039;ll appreciate the gesture and feel flattered even if she does have a boyfriend. Flowers are beautiful and they send beautiful messages.
Reply:ask her if she has a bf or just play halo 3
Reply:if ur her friend give them to her and if she says she has a BF then say it for being a friend if she doesnt have a BF then ask her out, also ask around to see if she has a BF, Amanda
Reply:Honestly you should just do what is in your heart. Only you know what you want to do. She may really think you%26#039;re sweet and be perfectly flattered that you thought of her. You may also be really making her day. It%26#039;s a kind gesture and I say you should go for it! Good luck!
Reply:You know what? The worst case is she thinks you are weird for giving her flowers. How is that the end of the world? Best case is a lot better than the worst case, so why not roll the dice on this one.
Reply:give her single flower very elegant but it shows you took the time to think bout her with out it being overpowering (like if you bought a dozen roses, very overpowering) and if you give her it she wont think youre very weird
Reply:yes all girls love to get flowers no matter what the situation.
Reply:Honey, you can never go wrong giving a girl flowers! ;o) Girls love flowers! (Put the effort into finding out her absolute favorite for maximum impact!)

There is nothing wrong with letting her know hoe you feel...Just be mentally ready for the fact that she may well have a boyfriend, and not fall over at your feet. If that *is* the case, be ready to accept her answer, whatever it may be, and get on with it. Don%26#039;t turn into a stalker or a nuisance! And look on the bright side, if she *is* single, this could be the start of something wonderful

Good luck, and Happy V-Day !
Reply:I think that she would think it was sweet. But I would make sure she doesnt have a boyfriend first!!!
Reply:yes, you go ahead and do that

( the same happened to me and the girl DID have a boyfriend, but nothing serious happened and the girl and i are such good friends now..)

it feels awesome to do that!
Reply:damn dats crazy well you u betta find out 1st. if she does have a boyfriend dont give her flowers cause the dude might start tripping nd dats when promblems come in so u dont want any of dat. but she will definetly luv flowers.
Reply:tell her how you feel. be a man/
Reply:hmmmmmm. is there any way that you can find out whether she has a boyfriend or not? otherwise it%26#039;s fun just to get flowers. perhaps you could just say %26quot;i%26#039;m glad we%26#039;re friends and i thought you deserved these%26quot;

it works either way
Reply:Take the plunge.... Just give them to her and find out.

Should I give her the flowers ... or not?

Yesterday I ordered flowers from a local shop and was planning to pick them up today and hand delivering them to a girl that I have been hanging out with here and there for the last few months. She knows that I%26#039;m interested in her.

Anyway she was gone the whole week on a business trip and just got in last night. Before I could get to ask her to go to dinner with me tonight she fell asleep. I asked her in email (she is at work) if she wants to have dinner tonight and she said she has Acting Class tonight (not a college/univ class).

Well I%26#039;m kind of bummed. I%26#039;m not sure what to do with the flowers. I don%26#039;t want to go there and see her, give her the flowers and not plan anything.

So should I just throw them away or leave them at the door and just leave?

Valentine%26#039;s day is like %26#039;damned if you do, damned if you don%26#039;t.%26#039;

Should I give her the flowers ... or not?
Give her the flowers with a %26quot;maybe next time%26quot; note.

Good luck!
Reply:Seeing that she couldn%26#039;t go to dinner with you, i%26#039;m sure she would love it if you gave her flowers.

Flowers after a second date?

Met a girl and have been on two dates which went well and have arranged a third. Am thinking of sending her flowers when she%26#039;s at work but don%26#039;t know if this is a good idea or is it too early to be doing stuff like this.

Flowers after a second date?
Brilliant :). You sound like a clever boy. She%26#039;s very lucky.
Reply:Personally I think it%26#039;s a lovely idea! Romancing is definitely a dying art and something I constantly hear girls talking about. I think she would be really flattered. My boyfriend buys me flowers every month and I LOVE IT. I don%26#039;t know any girls who don%26#039;t like them. I think it would be better to give them to her face to face rather than at work though to avoid a public display as you are feeling unsure and don%26#039;t want to embarrass her. Good luck and I hope you do send flowers!
Reply:I would send a small boquet with a note saying something like you look forward to seeing her on (the day). Otherwise, if you aren%26#039;t sure about sending them to work, then bring her a boquet when you pick her up for date.

Trust me don%26#039;t go big, but this will really set the tone that you want to romance her. I think most girls would be highly flattered. Why not go with something like tulips due to the season?
Reply:As long as shes not elergic to flowers she will love them,

we all love flowers. when i first went out with my now hubby i was only 15 and every time i seen him he brought me flowers i loved the idea of regfular flowers, 20+ years later i still get flowers although not everyday now.

♥Midnight~Angel♥
Reply:depend on what kind of girl she is, if she will be like whats he sucking up for then no no no. but if she the sucker for anything sweet then yes, but maybe not go all out and spend like 60 bucks maybe just a rose sent to her house or something, not a yellow one thats something you give to your sick grandma.
Reply:Nope, infact its a great idea.. 3rd date is perfect! The 1st %26amp; 2nd way to early, they might think your just a pushoever.... BUT 3rd date... good idea!

P.S You start doing this now... you will have to continue doing spontaneous things for ever.... thats not a bad thing right?
Reply:Good idea! Just don%26#039;t go overboard with it. Send a mixed arrangement with a card that isn%26#039;t too mushy. Like saying I am looking forward to our next date or something like that. Do NOT send roses - it will send the wrong signal. Good luck!
Reply:It%26#039;s definitely a good idea, I was with someone for 3 years and after about 4 dates I bought her 2 tickets to court no 1 at Wimbledon and looking back now I went over the top so flowers are a good idea.
Reply:Go for it you must be a real gentleman to even be thinking like that!! You must do what you feel is right and show your own personality.
Reply:Go for it. Just don%26#039;t spend too much, coz she might be two-timing you and that would be a waste of money.

Also, don%26#039;t put anything sexual on the note card.
Reply:said it with flowers as simple as that. She will be happy to date you again.
Reply:Bring her one single rose when you pick her up and then after that send flowers if all goes good..GoodLuck!!
Reply:she will think thats sweet

good idea

go for it
Reply:its a bit too early for it
Reply:she will think there a sweet and romatic thing
Reply:i think that is nice.

Flowers to grow in san diego?

can you tell me which flowers grow well in san diego. something really bright and colorful, always in bloom and will have to live outside in a pot.

Flowers to grow in san diego?
Better question would be what won%26#039;t grow in San Diego

Your choices are limitless
Reply:Hybiscus are native to your area and come in many different colors: red, orange, pink, yellow! They are very easy to take care of, are great plants to grow in large pots and the blooms are very large and showy.

Check the %26quot;zone%26quot; you live in and make sure. Here%26#039;s a link with lots of zone and plant information, as well as plant groupings for different zones, sun, shade, etc. You%26#039;ll also be able to see what plants flower and bloom and what plants are just great coloring foliage.

Two to three inches of mulch on top around the plants helps keep in the moisture, as well as mixing in some potting soil that helps retain moisture. Plants in pots don%26#039;t hold in moisture like the ground so they%26#039;ll have to be watered more frequently.

Happy gardening!
Reply:I love sweet pea bushes, they do well in containers, bloom almost all year long and have a beautiful pink/purple flower with a delicate sweet scent. Plus they are inexpensive, around 5 dollars for a gallon pot. I%26#039;m in north county so we get temps in the 100%26#039;s during the summer so you have to water container bound plants more frequently. Million bells, geraniums, impatiens (for shady areas) hydrangea (also shady loving), petunias (especially the new mounding habit type they have out now), orchids like the epidendrum or Mexican orchid, begonia, columbine, vinca, kilanchloe, sweet breath of heaven, all grow well in containers, hanging baskets, window boxes, and planter boxes in my yard.
Reply:Geraniums. They grow like weeds, they don%26#039;t require much water, and they come in all kinds of flower shapes and colors.
